Spiritual direction
Feeling unsatisfied, hopeless, or ashamed?
You don't have to carry it alone, and you don't have to have the right words. Spiritual direction is a place to be accompanied while you listen for your own voice.
What spiritual direction is
Spiritual direction is an old practice with a plain purpose: to sit with another person while you pay attention to your inner life. Not to be fixed. Not to be advised. To be accompanied.
You do not need to belong to a religion, believe in anything in particular, or have the right words. You only need to be willing to be honest about what is stirring in you, even if what is stirring is nothing at all.
Who comes to spiritual direction
- People who have achieved what they were supposed to and still feel unsatisfied
- People carrying shame or regret that has nowhere to go
- People in a season of loss, uncertainty, or change
- Parents, especially new ones, whose sense of self has shifted under them
- People who feel a pull toward something more and do not know what to call it
How it works
We meet for about an hour, usually once a month, though some people come more often during intense seasons. I listen more than I talk. I ask questions. Sometimes we sit in silence. Over time, patterns emerge and you begin to hear your own voice more clearly.
Spiritual direction is not therapy, and it is not a replacement for it. Many people find the two work well together.
